Volunteer today for racing charities!


Charities working across the sport are frequently in need of valuable support from volunteers – on an ongoing basis or just to support a particular event.

Volunteering is a great way to help the causes you support, and can even boost your CV and help you make new friendships.

Opportunities to volunteer with racing industry charities will be found through Careers in Racing and the Sport and Recreation Alliance.

March for Men at Hereford Racecourse

Hereford resident Mike Williams has arranged a ‘March For Men’ walk/run event in Support of Prostate Cancer UK at Hereford Racecourse at 11:00am on 31st March 2019.

The walk is one lap of the racecourse with the run option being either one, two, three or four laps of the racecourse, (2.25km, 4.5km, 6.75km or 9km) and is open for Men, Women and Children to enter.

The aim of the event is to raise awareness of prostate cancer and to raise funds for Prostate Cancer UK.

A registration fee of £11.25 for the walk/run, of which £10.00 will be funds raised for Prostate Cancer UK is payable per person via EventBrite.

Mike has also arranged for the Graham Fulford Charitable Trust to be in attendance from 10:00am until 1:00pm with a bank of nurses to take blood samples to enable testing of PSA levels which is an indicator of prostate health.

It is not necessary to take part in the walk/run event to enable attendance for the PSA test. The current cost of each test is £18.75. A minimum gift aided donation of £15.00 covers this cost.

The event will also be attended by Yeleni Therapy and Support, a Hereford based charitable group who are able to offer advice of local support available for anyone living with cancer. Sunshine Radio who will be hosting the event. Mike would like to thank Gareth Jones Manager at the Hereford Co-op for arranging sponsorship for the event and to Signs and Labels Hereford for their support.
