£1,100 raised to support women wanting to develop racing industry careers

On Monday night Women in Racing hosted their annual Christmas party and second Hat Swap event at the historic Petyt Hall in Chelsea, London.

Attended by over 50 racing and hat enthusiasts, and supported by Hallgarten & Novum Wines and Danebury Vineyards. Milliners Jess Collett, Amanda Denton and Fernanda Lewis attended the event, bringing hats for all occasions for guests to try and buy, also donating a hat each for the raffle in aid of the Women in Racing Bursary.

ITV Racing Stylist Sarah-Kate Byrne provided an insight to her work, also sharing tips on hat-wearing and savvy shopping techniques for dressing for the races. V V Rouleaux donated goody bags for guests to take home.

The Women in Racing Bursary

The event raised over £1,100 for the Women in Racing Bursary fund. The fund provides members with the opportunity to apply for bursaries to help them develop their careers in the racing industry.

Previous recipients of the Bursary include At The Races presenter Vanessa Ryle who received funding for a presenter course in 2017, and Work Based Learning Manager at the Northern Racing College Vanessa Cashmore, who was awarded £2,000 to allow her to continue her studies into the performance of female jockeys in March this year. For more information you can visit the Women in Racing website.

Women in Racing have extended their thanks to all who attended the event and to the generosity of guests and sponsors.
