500 complimentary Royal Ascot tickets made available to local community
Following confirmation that Royal Ascot will be part of the next phase of the Government’s Events Research Programme, capacity for the event has been set at 12,000 per day and 50 pairs of Queen Anne (general admission) tickets each day have been set aside for the local community.
Unfortunately, as every attendee on site must be ticketed, the Heath will need to remain closed during the hours of racing as has been the case throughout the pandemic.
Timings for the closure,15th to 19th June, will be 13.00 to 18.30. Access will continue to be allowed in the mornings and evenings on Royal Ascot racedays.
To ensure that the local community is represented at Royal Ascot, a ballot will take place using postcodes within a three mile radius of the racecourse. Those successful will be contacted directly.
“The local community have been incredibly understanding of the continued closure of the Heath on racedays and we are asking for patience for a little bit longer,” said Nick Smith, Director of Racing and Public Affairs at Ascot Racecourse.
“Although attendance at Royal Ascot this year will be akin to a small winter Saturday in numbers terms, we really want to make sure that some tickets are set aside as gifts to those who live in the area.”
