Aintree Racecourse and Women in Racing have announced Katarina Johnson-Thompson as part of the panel for the virtual Aintree Grand Women’s Summit
This year’s Aintree Grand Women’s Summit is being held virtually for all to enjoy on Friday 9th April. Host Alice Plunkett from ITV Racing will be joined by Katarina Johnson-Thompson, Judy Murray, Zara Tindall, Pippa Funnell and Kate Davis. The event titled, ‘Sport and Mental Health: A Powerful Relationship,’ will aim to evaluate key themes from how professional athletes can look after their mental health to the role of coaches.
Alice Plunkett said: “I am really excited to be hosting the first virtual Aintree Grand Women’s Summit, as part of the Randox Grand National Festival. This year more than ever, everyone’s mental health has been at the forefront of discussions, particularly in the sporting world.”
The late Rose Paterson who died last year was former Chair of Aintree and she played a key part in the launch of the Aintree Grand Women’s Summit, which is now in its sixth year. This year will see the launch of a new accolade, the Rose Paterson Award for a Sportswoman in the Community.
“Rose Paterson was extremely involved with the Grand Women’s Summit so it is particularly fitting that we are able to introduce an award in her name to recognise a sportswoman within the local community. Two things that Rose was so passionate about,” said Dickon White, Regional Director for Jockey Club Racecourses North West.
Chair of Women in Racing, Tallulah Lewis, added: “Women in Racing is delighted to once again have the chance to partner with Aintree Racecourse for what promises to be another fantastic Grand Women’s Summit.”
The Jockey Club will stream the virtual Aintree Grand Women’s Summit live across all their Aintree channels for everyone to get involved in and enjoy. To find out more about the event visit Women in Racing.
