Ascot Racecourse staff contribute 470 hours during Staff Volunteers Week 2026
Ascot Racecourse’s annual Staff Volunteers Week saw 89 colleagues give their time to charities and community organisations across Berkshire and Surrey between 14 and 18 September. Together, they contributed 470 hours to 15 charities.
The week is part of Ascot Racecourse Supports, the track’s wider community and charity programme. This year’s volunteers worked with organisations addressing homelessness, isolation, mental health, disability and support for children and young people. Their tasks ranged from sorting donations and decorating to clearing overgrown outdoor spaces and making practical improvements to community facilities.
A particular highlight was the work at Jealott’s Hill Community Landshare in Bracknell, where nine Ascot colleagues spent two days lending a hand to clear and organise the material bays essential to the charities work. Other organisations supported during the week included Youthline, Quest Riding for the Disabled, Slough Foodbank and Windsor Foodshare.
Volunteers also helped with the Riding a Dream Academy Taster Week at Ascot’s racecourse stables. Ten students per day from Slough-based schools had the chance to learn to ride a pony and gain an introduction to the world of horseracing. Many showed an interest in exploring careers in the sport.
Jacqui Greet, Corporate Social Values Manager at Ascot Racecourse, coordinated the week and said: “It’s been another fantastic week and we’re so grateful to all staff members that have given up their time to make a real difference to so many people. The total time donated has been the equivalent of 67 days’ worth of work and we’ve made some real transformations of sites across the region. The relationships we build with these charities throughout this week and beyond are so important, helping us to be a force for good and make a real impact across our community.”
