Ascot Racecourse Supports Volunteering Week
During the week commencing 12-16 September 2022, 83 employees from Ascot Racecourse and 1711 (the racecourse’s catering arm) took part in a company-wide volunteers’ week that saw teams help 12 local charities that are already supported by the “Ascot Racecourse Supports” charity and community programme. The activities included:
- Age Concern, Bracknell: garden tidy and outdoor painting for day centre attendees to enjoy
- Aik Saath – Together as One: regenerating their outside area and creating veg plots for the charity’s young carers to manage
- Apollo Youth Club: repainting of children’s outdoor play area
- The Baby Bank: sorting donations of clothing & toys for families in need
- Berkshire Womens Aid: gardening help at a refuge home
- Jealott’s Hill Community Landshare: preparing a vegetable plot for a new community group to utilise
- Just Around the Corner: digging up a disused paddock to assist the charity’s equine assisted therapy programmes for children
- Sebastian’s Action Trust: general outdoor gardening work at the charity’s “Woodlands” base in Crowthorne
- Slough Foodbank: sorting and collating food donations for distribution
- Thames Hospice: help with sorting donations at the charity’s distribution centre in Maidenhead
- Windsor & Ascot Carriage Driving for the Disabled: general clean-up and tidy of some hard-core equine areas
- Windsor Homeless Project: helping with lunch service at a drop-in session for the homeless at Holy Trinity Church, Windsor
Ascot along with their charity partners, Berkshire Community Foundation, who also helped bring the work together clocked up 480 volunteer hours.
