Ascot supports the Berkshire School Games
On 28th June 2019, the team at Ascot ran a horse equiciser activation at the Berkshire School Summer Games, held at Bisham Abbey National Sports Centre in Marlow. The idea was to introduce children to the thrill of riding a horse within the cultural village. Ascot Supports is the racecourse’s community initiative and as part of this work for the past three years they have been able to help fund these annual summer and winter games organised by Get Berkshire Active.
Around 1,100 school children representing 76 Berkshire schools from across the County took part in a day of sporting action and culture. Both Primary and Secondary school pupils, with the youngest participants aged five years old, competed to become the County Champions in physical activities, which included rugby, tennis, athletics, Pentathlon and SEN (Special Education Needs) Cricket. All these events were developed specifically to include mixed and single gender competitions, as well as inclusive events for special schools.
In addition, Ascot Supports also presented Get Berkshire Active with a cheque for £2,500 from the proceeds of a charity supplier cricket day recently held at the racecourse.
