Box4Kids Heroes
The ongoing Covid-19 pandemic may have put The Barrie Wells Trust’s Box4Kids events on hold, including at all the 15 Jockey Club racecourses, but it has not stopped them launching their new initiative, Box4Kids Heroes!
This new scheme asks children who have attended a Box4Kids event to nominate their Box4Kids Hero from a hospital or hospice. This could be a surgeon, doctor, nurse, care worker or other medical staff, who they feel has gone above and beyond and is most deserving of the Hero title.
As part of their nomination, a child will provide a drawing or a letter, or both if they wish, which will be sent to their Hero in a gift package provided by the Trust. This includes a delicious hamper of treats and a Barrie Wells Trust certificate to recognise their award.
“It is a great opportunity for the child, their family and everyone at the Trust to show their Hero just how special they are,” said Barrie Wells MBE.
“In a time of such uncertainty, it is lovely to show the hospital and hospice staff on the frontline just how valued and brilliant they are.”
The Trust is an active force for good in horseracing and has already rewarded several special Heroes.
“Thank you for passing on the delightful nomination from Mark and his family. I can’t tell you how much of a lift this has given me and how grateful I am for the box which arrived today. What a treat to share with my colleagues in the office,” said Dr Gavin Cleary, Consultant Paediatric Rheumatologist at Alder Hey Children’s Hospital
The Trust is very keen to reward even more deserving Box4Kids Heroes!
