Carol concert a real community event for Racing Welfare
The annual Carol Concert at Tattersalls raises funds to support Racing Welfare’s Chaplaincy service, which is so vital to people working in horseracing in times of pain, loss, trauma or need. The event is always well attended, selling out a week in advance this year, by not only parents of the children performing, but families from the local community who enjoy coming together for a Christmas sing song in the iconic Tattersalls sales ring.
Each year, the charity brings together the children from three local schools to perform a festive programme, which includes carols, soloists, readings and a raffle, with prizes donated from a range of very generous local businesses.
Racing is an integral part of the Newmarket community and as such, Racing Welfare works hard to ensure all racing businesses open their doors and engage with the local community, supporting events.
Looking ahead to 2024, Racing Welfare has a varied events calendar with something for everyone, including community coffee mornings up and down the country; both Middleham and Malton Open Days, and plenty of fundraising challenges, such as the 24-hour cycle; Jurassic Coast walk, and Dragon Boat Race. The Racing Welfare socials and website will carry details.
