Every ticket sold, every partnership, every conversation contributes to our wider mission’: Bridget Milner-Moore reflects on next week’s Yorkshire Children’s Charity Raceday at Pontefract Racecourse
I’m Bridget Milner-Moore, Charity Development Manager at Yorkshire Children’s Charity. I joined the team last September, though I have been involved with the charity since it was founded.
Alongside that, horseracing has always been a huge part of my life. Horses have been around me for as long as I can remember, and with family and close friends in the industry, I have grown up with a real love for it, especially here in Yorkshire. Bringing these two worlds together felt like a natural fit. That’s really where the idea for this Raceday came from, combining something I care deeply about with a cause I believe in wholeheartedly.
About Yorkshire Children’s Charity
The charity works with children and young people across the region who are facing real challenges, whether that is poverty, illness or disability. Our focus is simple: removing barriers and creating opportunities. That might mean providing a bed for a child who does not have one, funding mobility equipment, or supporting schools with resources that make a genuine difference day to day.
More than a raceday
On Tuesday 2nd June, we will be hosting the Yorkshire Children’s Charity Raceday at Pontefract Racecourse. From 11am, guests will be welcomed with a champagne reception, followed by a relaxed Yorkshire-inspired buffet, dessert and a cheeseboard, all in our dedicated charity suite, complete with a private balcony overlooking the course.
But beyond the food and the racing, what really matters is the impact behind the event. Every ticket sold, every partnership and every conversation on the day contributes to our wider mission. It is a day at the races, but it is also a chance to bring people together, to share something enjoyable and to be part of something bigger.

Potential to build
For me, this is also about what this could become. Looking ahead, I would love to build on this connection with the racing world and create opportunities for the children we support to visit racing yards, to experience something completely new and to feel inspired by it. That is the kind of impact that goes beyond a single day.
We have already had incredible support from partners, sponsors and the racing community, and that is what makes days like this possible.
If you would like to be part of the day, whether by joining us or exploring sponsorship opportunities, you can book your tickets here or get in touch directly at bridget.milner-moore@yorkshirechildrenscharity.org
