Happy Pride Month!

Tuesday marked the first day of Pride Month. Pride is celebrated across the whole of June as it was the month of the Stonewall riots and is a tribute to those involved. These protests changed gay rights for many people in America and beyond. There are events going on across the country and within the racing industry. 

Racing supports Pride month and does this partly through Diversity in Racing. British racing’s leading organisations have come together to improve diversity and inclusion across the sport under a unified ‘Industry Commitment’ to ensure racing truly is a sport for everyone and to help the sport grow and thrive in the future. Pride is about communities coming together in celebration, protest, unity and solidarity for LGBT+ equality. There are numerous Diversity in Racing resources available via our website and various research projects e.g., ‘Sexuality in British Horseracing; an exploratory study into prevalence and attitudes,’ by David Letts, 2019, which can be read here. 

Diversity in Racing provide educational and practical tools, including the LGBT+ Awareness and inclusion E-Learning course, Rainbow Ready Toolkit and How to be a good LGBT+ ally webinar, taking place in June.
