Industry bodies partner with Think Beyond to strengthen social impact
British horseracing’s commitment to understanding and enhancing its positive social impact continues to grow, with both the British Horseracing Authority (BHA) and The Jockey Club announcing new collaborations with Think Beyond.
The BHA has partnered with Think Beyond and research specialists Substance on a new project that will quantify the social value created by horseracing. Following the launch of the BHA’s industry-wide social impact strategy, the multi-phase project will run through to the end of 2025, engaging stakeholders, developing a transparent methodology, and focusing on measurable, real-world outcomes.
Tom Baker, Head of Social Impact at the BHA, said: “British racing is an industry that is committed to having a positive impact and there is already a significant amount of vital work taking place across the country that is making a real difference in our communities.
“Our new strategy builds on these strong foundations to help ensure we can have an even greater impact, and it is crucial that we are able to quantify the social value created by horseracing.”
The Jockey Club has also appointed Think Beyond to support the integration of social impact within its partnerships. The collaboration will help the organisation coordinate its nationwide community activity into a clear strategic framework, ensuring maximum benefit for local communities and effective communication of outcomes.
The Jockey Club, which operates 15 racecourses across Britain, has already delivered a range of initiatives at the local level. In 2023, Gallagher Insurance became its inaugural nationwide Community Partner, focusing on experience days to introduce young people from all backgrounds to the racing industry and highlight the career opportunities within the sport. The Jockey Club also works with the education charity Racing to School to host over 100 events each year.
Sam Shave, Managing Partner at Think Beyond, said: “Working with The Jockey Club is a real privilege for Think Beyond, and we look forward to helping this iconic organisation integrate and embed social impact into their commercial partnerships and activations.”
Think Beyond has built a strong reputation as a leading global consultancy for social impact and sustainability, working with major organisations including Liverpool FC, The FA, World Athletics, and the International Olympic Committee.
Together, these new partnerships reflect a coordinated step forward in British racing’s collective effort to measure, communicate, and maximise its positive impact on people and communities.
