Leicester Racecourse supports Organ Donation Week

Leicester Racecourse joined forces recently with three local hospitals to support Organ Donation Week. The aim was to raise awareness of the importance of organ donation and the benefit of having the ‘donation conversation’ with loved ones.

Leicester supported the efforts of the three hospital sites by hosting a stall at an evening race meeting, run by the team of organ donation Link nurses; there was also a giant game of ‘Operation’ to encourage racegoers to come and say hello.

Throughout the national focus week, there were lots of people who signed up to the NHS Organ Donor register. However, the most important outcome of the week was to get people talking about their organ donation wishes and making these known to their families.
