Lucky £2 raffle winner to land share in Mark Johnston-trained hopefuls
Middleham handler teams up with Racehorse Lotto for the Mark Johnston Racing Raffle to offer a 5% share in three new purchases.
The dream of racehorse ownership is being dangled in front of racing fans again by the Racehorse Lotto, who are offering a 5% share in three new horses to be trained by Mark Johnston.
The Mark Johnston Racing Raffle, for which tickets cost just £2 and a generous 20% of every ticket goes to Racing Welfare, offers entrants the chance to win the thrill of racehorse ownership with a share in the trainer’s Kingsley Park 20 Partnership.
All costs associated with the ownership are covered as part of the unique prize, which will last as long as the horses – which will be chosen by Johnston and his team at the up and coming Yearling Sales – remain in training at the prestigious North Yorkshire yard.
Trainer Mark Johnston said: “Racing needs enthusiasm in ownership more than ever and the Racehorse Lotto’s most recent raffle opportunity is excellent, not least with 20% of every ticket sale going to Racing Welfare.
“I can’t guarantee the raffle winner will have 5% of the next Frankel, but we’ll do our very best to secure three nice types at the October sales. I then look forward to welcoming the lucky winner up here to see them train and maybe celebrating in the winners’ enclosure too!”
The Kingsley Park partnerships, whose horses run in blue silks with turquoise epaulettes, have enjoyed plenty of success: Triple Group 3 winner Rose of Kildare is an exciting prospect this year, Dark Vision won the Group 2 Vintage Stakes at Goodwood before being sold to Godolphin and Poet’s Society’s memorable win at York was the victory which sealed Mark’s record as Britain’s winning-most trainer of all time.
The incentive to enter right now couldn’t be stronger either, with Racehorse Lotto offering an Early Bird Prize of a visit to the Johnston yard, where lunch and travel will be included.
The Racehorse Lotto was launched in early 2020 to introduce more owners and horses into racing, while simultaneously raising funds for charities connected to the sport and providing exciting opportunities for enthusiasts to experience ownership first-hand.
Earlier this summer, Racehorse Lotto’s Frankie Dettori NHS Raffle, which raised £10,000 for the NHS Charities Together Covid-19 Urgent Appeal, was won by Marie Jepps, who bagged the prize of ownership for the day with Frankie in the saddle.
Hugh O’Donnell, Founder and CEO of Furlong Gaming, the parent company of Racehorse Lotto, said: “We’re delighted to be teaming up with the Johnston yard in what has already been a very fruitful year for them with over 100 winners for the 26th consecutive season.
“Following the success of the Frankie Dettori NHS Raffle earlier this summer, where over £10,000 was raised for the NHS Charities Together Covid-19 Urgent Appeal, we’re hoping to raise another handsome sum for Racing Welfare while giving a lucky winner the prize of a lifetime.”
