Malton Festival of Racing

On Sunday 16th September the annual Malton Festival of Racing will return, sponsored by Arena Racing Company. This popular event will tie in with the final Classic of the season, The St Leger at Doncaster and the day offers the public the chance to see inside some of the North’s biggest yards.

Leading trainer Richard Fahey will open his ever-impressive training facility, Musley Bank during the morning. The Highfield Gallops will stage the jockeys’ show jumping in the afternoon, in conjunction with The Pony Club.

Racing Together partner, the Injured Jockeys Fund will open their Jack Berry House facility for the public to see just how much care and attention is given in the rehabilitation process of jockeys and the state-of-the-art facilities available.

Mick Easterby is one of racing’s most well-known characters and there is sure to be a queue to visit his New House Farm facility, with access to see behind the scenes of his yard. Ollie Pears will also be on duty to open his family run yard ‘The Old Farmhouse’, which is one of the area’s smaller yards but still boasts 168 winners to date.

Further activities include a dog show; terrier racing; a parade of retired racehorses; trade stands and much more. Shuttle busses will be in operation running from the Highfield Gallops to the yards.
