Musselburgh offers cooking skills to vulnerable neighbours
The Scottish Cyrenians Charity has been bringing a group of beneficiaries to Musselburgh Racecourse on a weekly basis to help give them some cooking skills, courtesy of caterers Heritage Portfolio.
The charity aims to transform the lives of individuals who are struggling with homelessness and other issues – people they describe as ‘living on the edge’.
The idea goes beyond teaching individuals new cooking skills but is to create the opportunity to meet other people, in turn promoting social inclusion. Musselburgh is one of many sporting venues that can be a host to provide support and help remove the stigma surrounding many of the issues facing these individuals.
Such has been the success of these sessions, that the groups will be a regular feature at the racecourse in the New Year.
