New Community Engagement eLearning Module launches on Racing2Learn

Racing Together is pleased to announce the launch of a first eLearning course for The Role and Purpose of Community Engagement in British Horseracing, with support from the British Horseracing Authority and Racecourse Association.

There has been a constant flow of uplifting news stories from all corners of the sport during the Covid-19 outbreak – many practical examples of meaningful community engagement. The idea behind Racing Together’s work in developing this free-to-access module, is to ensure newcomers and existing colleagues can learn more about the importance of a range of programmes that combine to support racing’s impact on its communities and how such programmes will play an important part in supporting racing’s future.

From Ascot to Newmarket and York to Aintree, British racing has stepped up to help others during the past few months. However, many of racing’s commercial organisations have embedded programmes to support their communities that operate year-round. This easy-to-use module contains updates on some of these programmes that work across our sport, so too stand-alone initiatives and the on-going work of the charities operating in and around the racing industry.

“We are so pleased to see Community Engagement – its purpose, methods and benefits – encapsulated within an engaging and informative learning module, which is pitched at everyone,” said John Blake from Racing Together.

“Our thanks go to the BHA for their support in developing this resource and we hope, above all, that this module answers the often posed question: ‘What’s in it for us and the sport?’ Please do log on and we hope it inspires more businesses and colleagues to find ways to get involved.”

This free course is designed to inform anyone who works in or is involved with racing, and awards 1 ½ CPD points for pass marks over 70%. Learners will receive an eCertificate on completion, verified by 1st4Sport and the Chartered Institute for the Management of Sport and Physical Activity (CIMSPA). Racing2Learn also provides a wide range of free courses to learn more about aspects of the racing industry.

How to use the course:

  1. Visit Racing2learn
  2. Create a free account and access the course
  3. Complete the course, answer the questions and receive your certificate
  4. Please also share the course widely with your organisation and HR function, embedding it in new starter packs, for example, to help us inspire others.
