Newmarket Open Weekend promises to be another big hit with the community

The very popular Newmarket Open Weekend returns on 22-23 September and gives visitors the chance to go behind the scenes at British Racing’s head quarters. There will be two days of unique entertainment and fun for all the family, with everyone welcome to attend. As ever, the event will help raise money for local charities.

Confirmation that equine stars Enable, Cracksman, Roaring Lion and Too Darn Hot will be on show at a gallops morning on Warren Hill is guaranteed to swell the crowds at this much-awaited community event.

The Rowley Mile racecourse will host racing over the weekend, which this year involves a number of trainers volunteering to step up to the microphone to take on the Newmarket Open Weekend commentary challenge. Yes, it is a lot harder than it looks!

Newmarket’s leading veterinary hospitals will open their doors, and the British Racing School; The Jockey Club Rooms; Tattersalls and the ever-impressive Palace House (National Heritage Centre) are certain to draw the crowds.

On Sunday a number of yards will be open to the public and the increasingly popular Clipper Logistics racing personality show jumping competition will take place in the afternoon. The Newmarket Stable Staff versus Jockeys & Trainers Football match will return, which is always a crowd favourite.

Shuttle bus services will be in operation on Sunday from various car park locations.

A full timetable of the day’s activities can be viewed below and there really is something for everyone.
