Nominations open for 2024 Godolphin Thoroughbred Industry Employee Awards

Marking 20 years of the awards, the 2024 renewal of the Thoroughbred Industry Employee Awards, sponsored by Godolphin, is now open for nominations.

The annual awards event offers an opportunity to celebrate racing employees who go above and beyond and make a difference to the lives of horses, people and communities.

The awards are organised by the British Horseracing Authority (BHA), with support from Racing TV, the Racing Post and Godolphin. Racing Together supports the Community Award, won last year by Gay Kelleway for her tireless work helping horses in Ukraine.

Racing Together’s Community Engagement Manager Lucy Gurney said: “We’re delighted to once again support and promote the Community Award at this year’s Thoroughbred Industry Employee Awards. Each year wonderful people, programmes and stories are uncovered in the search for the next winner. Gay Kelleway’s work helping horses in Ukraine was an example of this when she collected this year’s award. We encourage everyone in the sport to help to shine a spotlight on this work by nominating unsung heroes.”

In 2024 the prize money will total £128,500 spread across six categories, and will be judged by an expert panel led by Nick Luck. It will also include past winners Sarah Guest and Paddy Trainor. They will be joined by former jockeys George Baker, Mark Bradburne and Mick Fitzgerald, as well as Aintree clerk of the course Sulekha Varma, Racing Welfare’s Dawn Goodfellow and the National Stud’s Anna Kerr. The panel is completed by bloodstock agent Eileen Harte, Racing to School’s Ollie McPhail and National Association of Racing Staff chief executive George McGrath.

Julie Harrington, Chief Executive of the BHA said: “For 20 years, the Thoroughbred Industry Employee Awards have provided us with so many special memories and unforgettable moments, and I’m immensely proud of the role they continue to play in celebrating the very best of British racing and breeding.

“The awards are a wonderful opportunity to show our collective appreciation for the exceptional individuals who love and care for our horses, look after our people and go above and beyond to support our local communities.

“There are so many people deserving of recognition, so please do nominate friends, peers, employees – anyone who you think should be honoured for their excellence and extraordinary contribution.”

Nominations will close on the 7th November 2023. For more information and how to nominate please visit the website.
