Park Palace Ponies pops up at Aintree
Aintree has today welcomed eight ponies from Toxteth-based, inner-city riding school Park Palace Ponies for a pop up riding school lasting until the end of August.
The project aims to provide children who have never ridden before with the opportunity to experience horse riding and pony care during the summer holidays.
Bridget Griffin, Co-Founder of Park Palace Ponies, said: “We are hugely excited to be working alongside Aintree Racecourse and the Jockey Club this summer to provide free opportunities for inner-city children and young people to spend time with ponies. Our scheme will run every day for 7 weeks, with one day being dedicated solely to our volunteers. Our ponies have settled in very well to the racing stables and have had their first taste of the parade ring. We are thrilled to be able to provide riding and pony care lessons in such an iconic and amazing venue, that matters so much to the people of Liverpool.
“We are hoping that we may inspire a future Grand National winning jockey…so watch this space (in some years time)!”
Park Palace Ponies has created an Amazon Wishlist for anyone who wants to help them purchase items to run both their existing site in Dingle and their pop up at Aintree, including brushes, clippers, long lines and hoof-picks which can be found here.
