Pipers welcome cool reception at Oaksey House

The Injured Jockeys Fund were in carnival spirit on the August Bank Holiday with the team at Oaksey House gladly volunteering to support the Reading Scottish Pipe Band as they passed through Lambourn village in basking sunshine.

Welcome refreshments and a spot in the shade were provided for one of the main acts of the  2019 Lambourn Carnival Parade as the temperature gauge reached over 30c. The band, who wear the Cameron of Erracht tartan, entertained the packed village streets with its extensive repertoire of Scottish music.

 The Carnival Parade is the culmination of a Festival that consists of a number of events held throughout the summer in Lambourn from June to September.  Eight motorised floats were complemented by two equestrian and seven walking entries.   The main float winner was ‘Under the Sea’ presented by local Hungerford business, Noll Countryside Services.

Clare Hazell, Centre Manager at Oaksey House said: “Oaksey House is proud to play a central part within the local Lambourn Community all year round and it is important that we lend a hand to such a popular community event. 

“Together with Oaksey House Resident, Dot Kavanagh we were delighted to offer the 25- plus members of the Pipe band a few minutes to cool down, relax and refuel before carrying on with the parade.”
