Pontefract engage with local students to produce new racecourse promotional material
Pontefract racecourse has for the first time been working with Art and Graphic Design students at the local New College, who have designed the promotional material for the opening race meeting of the season on April 3rd as part of their A-Level Coursework.
The winning designer, Ellie Tallant, not only has all her designs in print on the day, but will also have work experience with Leeds-based Print and Design Company Advertising Works – the advertising agency who work with the racecourse.
Richard Hammill, Chief Operating Officer from Pontefract Racecourse, approached the principal of New College, Richard Fletcher with the proposal to work with the college.
A brief was put to Alex Von Ehrheim, the Graphic Communication Teacher who passed this on to the A-Level students in his group.
Five of the students took on the challenge and the winning designer was Ellie Tallant.
Richard Hammill said: “The Racecourse was hugely impressed by the quality of the presentation and submissions from the New College students. We look forward to working with both the students and the college again in the future!”
Speaking after being announced as the winner, Ellie Tallant said: “I’d like to thank the Racecourse for this amazing opportunity and look forward to working with both them and AdWorks.”
