Pony Racing all-weather finals set for Lingfield on Good Friday

Tomorrow’s racing stars will be on show at Lingfield Park on Good Friday as they take to the track in the finals of the inaugural Pony Racing All-Weather Championships 2021/22.

The Finals have mirrored the Thoroughbred All-Weather Championship Series and have been sponsored and supported by Arena Racing Company (ARC). The first fixture took place in December 2021 at Newcastle Racecourse with further fixtures held at Southwell, Lingfield and Wolverhampton Racecourses.

They are the combinations of ponies and jockeys who have competed in the series, which is for jockeys who had competed in the 148cm Summer Racecourse Series 2021.

Young hopeful, Rian Corcoran, aged 14, said, “It’s been a great experience to be able to race around different all-weather tracks. Hopefully the experience will pay off in the future. Thank you to ARC for giving us the opportunity.”

Clarissa Daly, CEO of the PRA, added, “These are the jockeys of the future so it is an incredible opportunity for them to be able to practice riding at these racecourses. We are grateful to everyone at ARC for making this happen.

I am really looking forward to watching a competitive race on Friday and wish all the jockeys the best of luck”.

George Hill, ARC Regional Clerk of the Course who is based at Lingfield Park, added: “We are really pleased to have been able to support this Series for these young riders and it will be great to host the Finals at Lingfield on this celebratory day.  We wish everyone the best of luck and look forward to seeing the stars of tomorrow in action on the track.”

The 148 cm Final will take place at 12.15 pm, an hour before the Thoroughbreds take to the track.
