Racemakers key to success of British Champions Day
QIPCO British Champions Day is the Ultimate Raceday and the finale of the British Flat racing season. Ascot racecourse is set alight on the nation’s richest ever raceday, as champions are crowned kings and queens of the turf.
The best horses and jockeys from across the globe will be in action to compete for a record-breaking £4.35 million purse as they bid to follow in the hoof prints of former Series stars.
Racemakers at the ready
Key to the success of Champions Day are a group of enthusiastic volunteers know as the RaceMakers. On duty at all British Champions Series race days, these knowledgeable individuals are there to pass on their enthusiasm and passion for the sport to racegoers.
Whether it is advice on conformation traits to look out for in the paddock, offering help with how or when to place a bet or simply answering questions about where to find facilities on course; the RaceMakers are on-hand to make sure every racegoer has the best possible racing experience.
On Saturday, 17 experienced RaceMakers will be on hand and can be spotted by their distinctive royal blue jackets. They will be at all of the entrance gates prior to racing and then walking throughout the course for the duration of the day.
Birdie supporting Racing Welfare
The chosen charity for QIPCO British Champions Day 2018 will be Racing Welfare. Darren ‘Birdie’ Bird who is a Racing Welfare ambassador will have a live cartoon exhibition at the centre of the grandstand on the ground floor. ‘Birdie’ will be turning the winning pennant boards from the parade ring into works of art, to be auctioned off afterwards.
QIPCO Champion Stakes fairground roll-a-ball game will take place on Stewards House Lawn. Participants can have a go at winning their own version of the QIPCO Champion Stakes on a traditional roll-a-ball fairground racing game.
Other action off the track will include: a glitzy opening ceremony, the crowning of the Stobart Champion Flat Jockey and a huge After Party that features both Ella Eyre and Jax Jones.
Student incentive for end season finale
There will be 2,000 student tickets available at the discount cost of just £10. That’s £35 cheaper than the cost of purchasing a ticket on the day itself.
Students also have the chance to have their rent paid for a full year. All they have to do is register for a student ticket to QIPCO British Champions Day, turn up on the day with the ticket and valid student ID and they will be automatically entered into the draw, which will be made before the first race.
