Racing to School welcomes Stuart Williamson and Lorna Shohani as Trustees

Stuart Williamson joins as the British Horseracing Authority representative. In his role as Chief Corporate Affairs Officer at The Jockey Club, Stuart led internal and external communications for the organisation behind major events such as the Cheltenham Festival and Randox Grand National. He is now a Communications Consultant with the with The Premier League and brings extensive experience in senior leadership, reputation management and stakeholder engagement from roles across both the horseracing industry and the wider corporate sector.

Stuart said: “I’m delighted to be joining the Board of Trustees at Racing to School. The charity already delivers a huge amount of positive work for young people, and I’m looking forward to working closely with fellow trustees and the executive team to help it grow its impact even further.”

Lorna Shohani worked as a financial accountant at the British Horseracing Authority for more than two decades, specialising in financial management within the horseracing industry. In this role Lorna was a passionate supporter of Racing to School’s work, something she looks forward to bringing to this next chapter as a charity Trustee.

Reflecting on the appointments, Racing to School CEO, John Blake, said: “We are fortunate to have a very good mix of skills across our passionate Board. Stuart and Lorna bring a depth of experience that will add fresh ideas and challenge to the Trustees and staff team. These appointments will help support our ambition during this 25th anniversary year to expand our work in support of our beneficiaries, and to increase the sport’s relevance to communities nationwide.”

Racing to School’s Board comprises 11 members drawn from across racing, wider sport and the education and governance sectors, and has a near 50/50 male to female ratio.
