Racing Together announce speaker line-up for Industry Day conference
Racing Together is delighted to announce the final line-up for the Racing Together Industry Day at Chester Racecourse on Thursday, 8th February.
Alex Shaw, Community Engagement Manager for Racing Together said: “Having recently joined the team, I am very much looking forward to being part of this year’s Racing Together Industry Day.
“The range of high calibre speakers this year, from both within and outside of racing, will no doubt provide interesting and unique insights into this year’s theme – ‘New routes, new solutions – why community engagement can no longer play it safe’.”
Conor McGinn MP for St Helen’s North and keen racing fan will be the keynote speaker and will be followed by Louise Stewart, CEO of hosts Chester Racecourse. Richard Hammill will bring another racecourse perspective as we hear about Pontefract’s commitment to its communities.
Ian Gregory, from national cricketing charity Chance to Shine will share experiences from another fast-moving national sport, and the opportunities that corporate sponsorship opens up for community programmes will be discussed by Sophie Chambers of Gallagher Insurance and Tom Baker and Grant Rowley from The Jockey Club.
Concluding the day will be a panel discussion chaired by Racing to Relate’s Jennifer Barker, including former jump jockey Ryan Hatch, now Programme Director at RMF Training; Sported’s CEO Sarah Kaye and Racing Together’s Community Engagement Manager Alex Shaw (formerly of Greatwood). They will discuss the capacity for former racehorses to be used in community, education and therapeutic settings.
Delegates will represent a broad range of organisations – from small charities to large commercial entities. Tickets are still on sale for the conference and more information, including the booking link, can be found here.
Tickets include a full day of speakers, breakfast, lunch and refreshments throughout the day, plus invaluable networking. Should you wish to stay overnight, Racing Together has secured a preferential rate at the Holiday Express adjacent to the racecourse. Please contact reception at the hotel for details and bookings.
