Racing Together is delighted to be partnering with Newmarket Open Door this year as part of the 2023 Community Day initiative.

Newmarket Open Door was founded in 1997 and provides support for those who need it most in Newmarket and the surrounding areas. The organisation provides supported housing for 16 – 24 year olds in Newmarket and runs charity Superstores that retail donated items to the general public, as well as foodbanks in Mildenhall and Newmarket that redistribute food and other household products to those in need. Their mission is to sustain and inspire people who are homeless to change their own lives by the provision of accommodation and support; to provide relief to persons experiencing poverty, hunger and physical and mental disability and to change perceptions and attitudes towards these people.

Racing Together’s Community Day will be held on 25th May and through the partnership we are encouraging those that would like to help to start a food collection to be donated to Newmarket Open Door on or around the 25th. Alternatively, if you would like to fundraise and donate financially this is also encouraged. For more information and donation guidelines, please contact Florence Cain (florence@racingtoschool.co.uk).

One Newmarket-based business already signed up for Community Day is Lycett’s, who will be starting a collection for Newmarket Open Door, alongside their team litter-picking activity.

Lycett’s Associate Director Zoe Wood said: “Lycetts Insurance Brokers is committed to making a difference and helping local communities, which is why we felt the perfect partnership for the Racing Together Community Day was Newmarket Open Door, where we hope our food bank collection will go a long way in helping homeless and vulnerable people around Newmarket.”
