Retraining of Racehorses parade to celebrate equine legends at Cheltenham
The Retraining of Racehorses (RoR) parade returns to Cheltenham Racecourse on Saturday, 15 November 2025, at 11.45am, as one of the highlights of The November Meeting. The parade celebrates the versatility and achievements of former racehorses who have flourished in new careers, giving racegoers the rare opportunity to see some of the sport’s most celebrated equine stars back at the home of jump racing.
Among the stars parading is Coneygree, now 18, the 2015 Cheltenham Gold Cup hero and one of the leading staying chasers of his generation. Since retiring in 2019, he has embraced life after racing, excelling in showing and team chasing. Ridden by Alfie Bradstock, he recently stormed up the Cotswold Team Chase hill with all the enthusiasm of his Gold Cup-winning days.
Also taking part is Pineau De Re, 11 years on from his unforgettable victory in the 2014 Grand National. Since retiring in 2016, he has enjoyed success across multiple disciplines, including eventing, showing, dressage, and hunting. A 2022 RoR Horse of the Year runner-up and Commonwealth Games baton bearer, Pineau continues to shine in his varied second career.
Crowd favourite Paisley Park will also feature. The 13-year-old, who retired after the Cheltenham Festival in 2024, won 11 races including four at Cheltenham and earned nearly £750,000 in prize money. Now retired, he still lives on the yard at Emma Lavelle’s, where he leads out the young horses each day and competes in dressage.
Another modern-day legend, Frodon, needs little introduction. The charismatic 13-year-old, formerly trained by Paul Nicholls, remains under the care of Philippa Hyne, with guidance from his long-time jockey Bryony Frost and owners, the Vogt family. Still full of character, Frodon has swapped the winner’s enclosure for the show ring, qualifying for both Hickstead and Aintree.
The line-up also includes Call Me Lord, Elegant Escape, Melon, Regal Encore, Riders Onthe Storm, and Not At Present—each with inspiring post-racing stories that highlight the adaptability of the Thoroughbred across showing, dressage, team chasing, and beyond.
David Catlow, Managing Director of Retraining of Racehorses (RoR), said: “We are grateful to Cheltenham Racecourse for allowing us to present such a wonderful line-up of former racehorses. The RoR Parade showcases the diverse opportunities available to horses after their racing careers and the importance of continued support, as outlined in our RoR Strategy 2024–2026.”
