Secretary of State for Health and Social Care to open new learning facility at The Racing Centre

On Friday 7th September the Rt Hon Matt Hancock MP will open a new facility at The Racing Centre in Newmarket that will host the first intake of staff studying a new course in mentoring, leadership and team skills.

In attendance for the opening will be BHA Chief Executive Nick Rust and a selection of the students who will be studying the 12-week level 2 course which commences on 14th September.

The Racing Centre is the headquarters for the National Association of Racing Staff (NARS), who will be delivering the course. They have been able to achieve this thanks to combined contributions from Unionlearn, the E B Moller Charitable Trust and JenningsBet, who this year pledged to support the course for the next five years with a contribution of £100,000.

NARS Chief Executive George McGrath commented: “The diversity of the funding and the support this project has received is a perfect demonstration of the broad appeal of investing in racing’s future. I am very grateful to all our supporters and benefactors and look forward to congratulating the first graduates of this innovative educational programme.”

With MP Engagement in racing increasing, Racing Together have worked with the BHA to construct a new Political Engagement Toolkit. The toolkit is designed to offer advice and guidance on how best to engage with a political figure and can be downloaded from the ‘Resources’ page on the Racing Together website, available here: link
