The Racing Centre looking to a people’s vote to win grant bid from Aviva Community Fund

The Racing Centre (TRC) in Newmarket is seeking funding from the Aviva Community Fund Programme, which supports projects that benefit the community. The grants are awarded to the most popular projects via public voting.

The Racing Centre is urging support for its work addressing the Body, Mind and Spirit. Space and opportunity to promote mental and physical health and wellbeing; a sense of belonging and the chance to network and interact with likeminded people is already on offer at TRC.

Their work is community-focused and should they be successful in their bid, the funding will be allocated as follows:

For the body – increased gym and exercise sessions, including baby and toddler movement classes; youth “pump it to music” groups, and not forgetting keep fit activity for seniors.

For the Mind – through partnerships, the TRC is able to offer numerous education classes, which are free of charge and are aimed to help people change their lives – whether they are looking to return to work, enhance computer skills or learn something completely new.

For the Spirit – art classes; cooking demos; social occasions; sporting memories; coffee mornings; comedy evenings and movie nights are just a few of the varied social events that can be enjoyed at the Centre.

The Racing Centre is constantly looking to meet the needs of its service users, working closely with people to truly help them with the issues they face and give them tools, understanding and confidence to improve their lives.

TRC’s Debbie Grey said: “Seeing the difference we make in people’s daily lives and for their families is what is important. Adding value to their health and wellbeing. What we do matters and helps people lead more fulfilling lives, through gaining confidence and in giving them opportunities to try new things. We want to provide the space and opportunities for people to meet new friends and to increase their training and education. This is why we need votes from the public to support our bid.”
