Tickets for Troops at Sandown 06 November 2019

Tickets for Troops is celebrating 10 years and 1.5 million tickets!

All of racing’s 59 racecourses are working alongside Tickets For Troops as the military charity celebrates its tenth anniversary and the distribution of 1.5 million tickets to members of the UK Armed Forces.

The charity, which was launched in November 2009, provides serving personnel and those medically discharged from the forces since 2001 with the opportunity to attend a range of sporting, theatre and music events around the country in recognition of their service and sacrifice to the country.

Over 90,000 servicemen and women have enjoyed a free day’s racing since the charity’s inception, making racing the third most popular sport on the platform.

Director of Tickets For Troops, Stuart Higgins said: “This is a very significant milestone in the development of Tickets For Troops and we are delighted to use this moment to say a massive thank you to all of our donors who have shown us such fantastic support over these years. In all honesty, we never believed the charity would reach this point and it just goes to show just how much we all respect and admire members of the UK’s Armed Forces. Let’s hope we can make another ten years.”

From a long list of grateful recipients, Hugh who attended Doncaster said: “Thanks for the day at Doncaster races which I attended with my son who is also serving along with his brother and my dad – three generations enjoying a day out thanks to T4T and Doncaster Racecourse.”

A similar endorsement was received from Marcus who had tickets to attend Cheltenham.
“A very wet & windy day at Cheltenham races, but still the best day of the year for my wife and me. We both love going to New Year’s Day Races at Cheltenham, a great start to the Year!”
