Troops praise racing’s contribution to free ticket scheme
For a second successive year, all of Britain’s 60 racecourses have committed to supporting Tickets For Troops, which provides free tickets to members of the armed forces for a variety of sporting, musical and cultural events. British racecourses have donated over 70,000 tickets to the scheme. Servicemen and women have access to some of the calendar’s top races, including: Royal Ascot and the St. Leger Festival.
William Campbell-Lamerton Partnerships & Operations Manager said: “Tickets For Troops are thrilled with the generosity of the horse racing community who, so clearly stand behind our servicemen and women and reward them for their service. For a second year, this phenomenal level of support once again demonstrates the high regard our nation has for our marvellous troops and we’re very proud to be able to help facilitate thousands of tremendous experiences.”
A day’s racing means a great deal to the participants, and below are just a few examples of feedback praising the scheme, which shows the sport’s capacity to support its wider community.
“Thanks for the day at Doncaster races which I attended with my son who is also serving along with his brother and my dad – 3 generations enjoying a day out thanks to T4T and Doncaster Racecourse.” Hugh at Doncaster Races in 2017.
“A very wet & windy day at Cheltenham races, but still the best day of the year for my wife and I. We both love going to New Years Day Races at Cheltenham, a great start to the New Year!”

“Thanks very much for the two tickets to Ayr Racecourse. The day was outstanding. My father had an amazing day out. We will certainly look at another day at the racecourse in the foreseeable future. I would like to thank Tickets For Troops for giving me the opportunity to attend. It really means a lot.”
