Winning owners to toast their success at Lingfield Park
Victorious owners celebrating a win at Lingfield Park can do so with a tipple or two now that the Surrey racecourse has launched its own ‘Lovely Lingfield Gin’ – the first time the distillers have ever used actual turf in the process.
Made using botanicals from around the Lingfield estate the gin was produced by Surrey-based connoisseurs, The Gin Kitchen.
Now, instead of a trophy, the winners at the racecourse will win a bottle of the gin and two Lingfield Park Resort balloon gin glasses.
“We wanted to make winning at Lingfield a bit different considering we are one of the busiest racecourses in Europe,” said Clerk of the Course, George Hill.
For those not lucky enough to own a winning horse, there will be an opportunity to try the gin in one of the many bars at the track.
“It has been such a lovely process with the Lingfield Park staff choosing the botanicals and coming to The Gin Kitchen to mix and taste the different batches.
“We have never used turf before in any of our gins, so that was a new one for us! We were surprised at how good it tastes,” said Kate Gregory, one of the owners of Dorking-based The Gin Kitchen.
