Yorkshire’s Garden Racecourse helps local schools flourish for Community Week

Racecourses and organisations across British racing came together to support local communities during Racing Together Community Week, with Ripon Racecourse leading volunteering at two local primary schools.

Representatives from the racecourse’s Marketing and Grounds teams were joined by colleagues from the British Horseracing Authority (BHA) and Go Racing in Yorkshire to support gardening projects at St Wilfrid’s Catholic Primary School and Holy Trinity Church of England Primary School.

Working together, the teams planted flowers, cut back overgrown plants, cleared weeds and tidied garden areas to help refresh outdoor spaces ahead of the summer term.

As Yorkshire’s Garden Racecourse, Ripon was well placed to put its team’s skills and expertise to good use, helping to enhance areas within both schools for pupils, staff and the wider school community to enjoy.

Headteachers from St Wilfrid’s Catholic Primary School and Holy Trinity Church of England Primary School shared their appreciation for the work carried out by everyone involved, highlighting the positive impact the improvements will have on the school environment.

The project was one of many activities delivered during the seventh Racing Together Community Week, which saw 260 staff from more than 80 racing organisations volunteer nearly 700 hours to support charities, schools and community groups. Throughout the week, organisations across the sport delivered a range of volunteering and community engagement activities, celebrating racing’s year-round contribution to local communities.
