Your guide to this week’s Royal Ascot Virtual Preview events

It’s a very strange week for the racing industry, as we look forward to the first Royal Ascot meeting to be run behind closed doors in the event’s history. The Royal meeting has always brought together the community and to help everyone’s enjoyment of the five-day festival of top racing, we’ve picked out three preview events for the week ahead.

Women in Racing (WiR) host Royal Ascot Preview Evening

When: Tuesday 9th June, 6.30pm

WiR is delighted to be able to offer members and non-members a chance to participate in a virtual preview of the big event, free of charge.

Vanessa Ryle of Sky Racing will lead a panel discussion, offering a valuable betting insight into the main races over the five days.  Other panellists will contribute sharing their experiences of how racing has coped during the virus, explaining what’s been going on behind the scenes to get the show back on the road, albeit behind closed doors. Panellists include Sky Sports Racing Ambassador Hollie Doyle; Juliet Slot, Chief Commercial Officer at Ascot Racecourse; Rosie Tapner, Model and AscotTV presenter; Group 1 winning trainer, Eve Johnson-Houghton and Dani Johnson from the Tote.

To join, request Zoom details from @womeninracing on social media.

JustSeats, Qatar Racing and Fitzdares team up to host a Charity Royal Ascot preview evening

When: Wednesday, 10th June at 6pm

Join Flat racing’s biggest names online, as they discuss and give their unique insights into the feature races for each day of Royal Ascot. Host Francesca Cumani from ITV Racing is joined by jockeys Frankie Dettori and Oisin Murphy and trainer Charlie Fellowes for a sizzling Royal Ascot preview.

Each panellist has chosen a racing charity with 70% of the purchase ticket price going straight to each of the worthy causes. The Injured Jockeys Fund; Racing to School; Retraining of Racehorses; Racing Welfare and the British Racing School are the beneficiaries.

Racing fans will have the opportunity to join the panel via the online platform Zoom and can send in questions during the preview. There will also be a raffle during the event, as well as a best-dressed competition for preview viewers wearing their finest Royal Ascot outfits. Viewers can use #virtualroyalenclosure to enter for the chance to win fantastic prizes.

The bookmaker Fitzdares will provide their own panellist giving updated odds throughout the evening. Tickets are available to purchase at £10 from www.justseats.org
