Racecourses Together unites racecourses for an evening of reflection and sharing

Racing broadcaster and commentator Gareth Topham hosted the Racecourse Association’s Racecourses Together event at Doncaster Racecourse on Thursday 11 November. The event celebrated Caroline Davies’ 30 years at the Association and bade farewell to Maggie Carver after six years as Chair.

The assembled audience took the opportunity to reflect back on their experiences of the pandemic, and to celebrate how racecourse teams went above and beyond in support of their local communities. Watch the video clip below to gain an insight into just some of these initiatives:

Operations and Community Manager for The Jockey Club’s East Region, Margo Walsh speaks with passion about one of the first programmes to be acknowledged on the evening. Newmarket’s community effort centred around its vulnerable residents, and the support network created is still in place today.

Paul Swain, Raceday Experience & Communications Manager at the Racecourse Association, commented: “We were delighted to host the Racecourses Together event in place of our usual Showcase & Awards. November has become synonymous in the racecourse calendar for celebrating excellence and innovation and with so many wonderful stories to share, this event was a fitting tribute to racecourse teams across the country and how they selflessly gave back to support their local communities.

“We look forward to working closely with Racing Together in the months ahead to share the legacies from these case studies and the ongoing community work undertaken by British racecourses.”
