Racing to School announces new ambassadors including Champion Flat Jockey Oisin Murphy

After last week’s landmark milestone of reaching 15,000 participants for the year, Racing to School is delighted to announce today the launch of a new Ambassador Programme.

Joining Oisin will be:

  • BBC Commentator John Hunt
  • ITV Racing’s Sally Ann Grassick
  • Leading National Hunt trainer Warren Greatrex
  • Former champion Flat jockey Ryan Moore
  • World Record-breaking marathon runner and Director of Communications & Corporate Affairs at UK Tote Group Susannah Gill
  • Former Trustee and long-term supporter Morag Gray MBE.

As Racing to School Ambassadors each will be tasked with acting as champions of the charity’s vital work inspiring young minds and, hopefully, helping to foster a new generation of racing fans.

The launch of the Ambassador Programme comes as Racing to School celebrates another record year for participation – the charity welcomed its 15,000th pupil of the year to a British racecourse at Sandown last week – a record that is set to be beaten again in 2020. The vast majority of Racing to School pupils are going racing for the very first time and over 96% say that having now experienced the sport, they would like to come back again in future. The new Ambassadors will help spread this message to as many young people as possible.

Reflecting on the team of Ambassadors, Racing to School Chief Executive John Blake said: “It is a great tribute to the charity’s work with young people that we have been able to attract such a wonderful group of Ambassadors from across the sport to help promote its benefits and opportunities. We aim to inspire and advance young people from all backgrounds nationwide. We are so grateful for their support.”
