Wheels are turning as The Great Racing Welfare Cycle gets underway

A team of 27 cyclists set off at 8am on Tuesday 17th August to take part in The Great Racing Welfare Cycle in association with Windsor Clive International. The 500-mile journey started at Carlisle Racecourse and will take them across the country finishing at Newton Abbott Racecourse on 21st August. Over the five days they will encounter beautiful scenery and travel through part of the Tour de Yorkshire routes ridden by the pros.

All the funds raised will go to Racing Welfare to help them meet the growing demand for support for racing’s workforce.

Lucy Wheeler, a former amateur jockey who works for Weatherbys Ltd is taking part: “The first couple of days have been challenging with some of the toughest hills throughout the ride testing us early on. As a team we’ve surpassed the £60,000 fundraising marker for Racing Welfare which is keeping us all going!”

You can text CYCLE to 70560, followed by the donation amount to show your support for Lucy and the team.
