The Good Racing Co. launch syndicate in support of Graham Lee

The Good Racing Co. has launched a new syndicate in honour of injured professional jockey Graham Lee, created to support him and his family as they adjust after his life-changing injuries.

The Good Racing Co. is  a micro-share syndicate set up to benefit different charitable organisations and individuals, and has raised over £220,000 for charity, including £185,554 for Rob Burrows and his family.

For Graham Lee, the horse that will fly the flag is We’ve Got This, an unraced two-year-old filly trained by Craig Lidster, who was named by Graham’s wife Becky and generously gifted by Alfa Site Services. She is likely to make her debut in the near future.

The initiative is also supported by Minster Vets, Spillers Feeds and Craig Lidster Racing.

Paul Hanagan, director of racing for The Good Racing Co. said: “Graham and I were weighing room colleagues for over 12 years. I feel blessed to count him as a good friend. He’s a true gent who has time for everyone. The Graham Lee Racing Club is a chance for everyone to help Graham and his wonderful family.

“It was an honour to select the horse for Graham. We’ve Got This caught my eye quite early on, she’s a beautiful looking filly with a wonderful temperament.

The launch day was well attended by racing professionals expressing their admiration for Graham, news crews covering the uplifting story and, of course, Graham’s family. Amy, Graham’s daughter commented that: ‘So many people have come to see him or got in touch with a message, it’s been so nice and really kept Dad going’.”

Graham himself added: “I’m really humbled that a fundraising racing club has been set up in my honour, and that Paul Hanagan [The Good Racing Company’s director of racing] has chosen the horse for me.

“I’ve been shown videos of the horse and she looks very promising. No pressure Paul, but I hope you’ve picked a winner!

“I’ve seen what The Good Racing Company has achieved for Rob Burrows and how it’s united the racing community. I have high hopes that this new racing club achieves the same success with We’ve Got This, and my family and I look forward to following the excitement and being part of this new community.”
