
Scottish Racing triumph in RCA Showcase Community Award
In a competitive category, Scottish Racing’s community programme, delivered in partnership with the Scottish Racing Academy won the Racing Together Community Award on Thursday 10 November at the RCA Showcase & Awards held at Pontefract.
The event celebrated Diversity & Inclusion, Sustainability, Marketing, Events and Racing Connection. With an ambitious aim to make each racecourse a community hub, Scottish Racing co-ordinated a national donation of equestrian support kits for all of Scotland as part of the sport’s national day of volunteering: Racing Together Community Day. Chester Racecourse was highly commended in the Community Award category for their “Chester Loves Racegoers” initiative. Aintree took home the overall Showcase Champion award, becoming only the second racecourse in the history of the Showcase Awards to receive the ultimate accolade on multiple occasions.
A seminar during the afternoon included an inspiring presentation from Bob Bowman, CEO of the Leeds Rhinos Foundation, one of the largest sport foundations, whose mission statement reads ‘changing lives by engaging, inspiring and transforming through the power of sport’.
